Eric Thole – Working Together With the Washington County Bar Association

Eric Thole is an experienced criminal and civil attorney in the Stillwater, Minnesota area. Mr. Thole graduated cum laude from Macalester College in 1998 with a bachelor of arts degree, and then went to law school and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1992. He started working as an attorney in 1992 and specialized in divorce and real estate law. He also worked for the city of Stillwater and the city of Cottage Grove in Municipal Law as a civil litigator and misdemeanor prosecutor. From 1997 to 2004, he served as an assistant Washington County attorney and prosecuted many felony cases.

In 1992, he was admitted to the Minnesota State Court, and in 2006 he was admitted to the United States District Court – Minnesota District. Mr.Thole also threw his hat into the political ring for a time – he served on the Stillwater City Council for 7 years – from 1995 to 2001. He also spent time as a Policy Advisor for the Association of Metropolitan Municipalities.

Mr. Thole opened his private practice in 2005 and has become a respected attorney in many different fields of law. He has vast experience with nearly every type of criminal case, including murder, rape, assault, burglary, arson, and prison escape. His experience with misdemeanor criminal defense includes DUI, shoplifting, minor in possession of alcohol, and disorderly conduct. Clients also come to him for traffic cases involving reckless driving and license violations. In addition to his criminal practice, he also has experience with civil cases, such as zoning, adult use issues, employment cases, and unlawful detainer litigation.  Eric. Thole’s firm currently specializes in DUI, assault, burglary, battery, homicide, drug violations, white collar crime, and a variety of other felony and misdemeanor crimes.

One of Mr. Thole’s proudest accomplishments is his term, from 1994 to 1995, as president of the Washington County Bar Association, an organization in which he still is a valued and proud member. Though its early history is a bit nebulous, there is some evidence that the Washington County Bar Association’s existed as early as 1882. The organization is comprised mostly of attorneys who live and practice in Washington County, but it also includes judges, law clerks, law students, court staff, and other individuals who are involved or interested in the court system and the legal process. Their principle mission is to promote and advance the legal profession in Washington County by providing members with educational opportunities, resources, and an environment conducive to networking and socializing with friends and colleagues in the area’s legal community. Eric. Thole is proud to be a member of the Washington County Bar Association and hopes have a lifelong association with this prestigious and important organization.
